The title of this song (愛, pronounced "ai"), is the Japanese word for 'love' or 'affection', and the reason for this name comes out of two things that happened in the space of less than 24 hours.
I was having a conversation with a friend who was feeling down about his sister who was going through severe struggles in her life. Although he and his family had made provisions and were preparing for positive change, the anxiety of the whole situation was taking its toll on him. I only needed to remind him of one thing to put a smile on his face:
God's love. His unwavering, unconditional love, mightier and more profound than any mere circumstance. He loves him, He loves his sister, and in fact, you, who is reading this! No matter what you've done, or what you or others or the world thinks of yourself or says you should be, you are still made in His image and you are still the apple of His eye. Anyway, I digress... ;)
The very next day, I woke up and felt incredible! I was so ill with flu (at the time of writing this, which is the same day this happened, I am almost completely healed), and yet it wasn't enough to even slightly irritate me! I felt that same love I was talking about in abundance...it was a feeling I lack the language to describe, but it had to be from God! Just as I thought my relationship with Him was really close, He showed me there and then that there is so much more; that I hadn't even scratched the surface!
He put joy in my heart, anticipation for my future with Him, and immediately I started worshipping and singing melodies I'd never heard before! This song is the result of not just the melodies, but my deepened passion for Jesus, the reckless abandon of whatever I was going to do today, and that awesome reminder that God and His unfailing love are so very real! This is an expression, far from perfect but deep and sincere, of what God's love is to me. It's my deepest prayer that whoever listens to this is reminded of this awesome fact and encounters the Father's love themselves!
