This song started off as a silly sketch I wrote in December 2014, less than twenty bars long, of me arbitrarily writing melodies. With no rhyme or reason to it, I quickly put it aside to focus on other things in my life at the time.
Less than a week ago, though, I was praying and I heard God speaking to me about something called 'intentionality'. Specifically, He asked me, "What does the word 'intentionality' mean to you?". Images of living life without half-measures, doing things as opposed to merely saying them, and living out faith by deeds immediately came to mind. It also made me think about my life. I've said I've wanted to do so many things and not followed through with actions, living with feelings of regret instead of righteousness.
Almost without thinking, I opened the Logic project containing this song and finished it in about three days (and I'm writing this less than an hour afterwards!). It's been a lesson for me, aspects of which I hopefully reflected in my music, but I also want to encourage you to live with intentionality.
Don't hold back in anything you do. If you have passions, pursue them wholeheartedly. Make no excuses. There won't ever be another you, so do the things only you can do, and reap the fruits only you can reap. In all things, though, take a step back, breathe, and take in God's glory as reflected in what you're doing. To me, this is what it means to flourish.
